Yia Yia's Saltsa
- Ingredients
- 28 oz. can of tomato puree
- 2 Tbsp. of Sugar
- 6 oz. can of tomato paste
- 1 bay leaf
- Pinch of pepper, salt to taste
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. allspice, 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- Hand full of grated cheese (Parmesan or Romano)
- 2 beef bullion cubes (optional)
- Directions
- Empty tomato puree into kettle.
- Fill empty tomato puree can with water and add to puree.
- Add the rest of the ingredients.
- If making with meatballs, add the drippings from the frying pan.
- Simmer for 30 minutes.
- Especially good with Keftethes (meatballs).
