Kreatopites (spiced meat triangles)


  • Ingredients
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, 1 clove of garlic
  • 3 Tbsp. parsley, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 8 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine or vermouth
  • Pinch of pepper, salt to taste
  • 2 Tbsp. of grated kefalortiri or romano cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin, 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 lb. filo, 1 lb. butter



  • Directions
  • Chop onion and mince garlic.
  • Saute onion in butter until soft, but not brown.
  • Add the parsley and ground beef and cook until meat is browned. Pour off excees fat from skillet.
  • Add remaining ingredients except filo and butter and cook over medium heat until the liquid has been absorbed.
  • Let cool.
  • Melt butter.
  • Line cookie sheet with aluminum foil.
  • Cut filo into strips about 3"x9" and cover with wax paper, aluminum foil or towel to prevent drying.
  • Brush one strip of filo with butter and place a teaspoon of the beef mixture at the bottom of the strip.
  • Fold one corner of the strip over the mixture to make a triangle. Fold the triangle again and again until you are at the end of the strip.
  • Brush finished triangle with butter, and place on cookie sheet.
  • Once cookie sheet is filled, bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
