Kreatopites (spiced meat triangles)
- Ingredients
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, 1 clove of garlic
- 3 Tbsp. parsley, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 8 oz. can tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup dry white wine or vermouth
- Pinch of pepper, salt to taste
- 2 Tbsp. of grated kefalortiri or romano cheese
- 1/2 tsp. cumin, 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 lb. filo, 1 lb. butter
- Directions
- Chop onion and mince garlic.
- Saute onion in butter until soft, but not brown.
- Add the parsley and ground beef and cook until meat is browned. Pour off excees fat from skillet.
- Add remaining ingredients except filo and butter and cook over medium heat until the liquid has been absorbed.
- Let cool.
- Melt butter.
- Line cookie sheet with aluminum foil.
- Cut filo into strips about 3"x9" and cover with wax paper, aluminum foil or towel to prevent drying.
- Brush one strip of filo with butter and place a teaspoon of the beef mixture at the bottom of the strip.
- Fold one corner of the strip over the mixture to make a triangle. Fold the triangle again and again until you are at the end of the strip.
- Brush finished triangle with butter, and place on cookie sheet.
- Once cookie sheet is filled, bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
