Stifatho (beef with onions)
- Ingredients
- 2 lb. of boneless chuck
- 2-3 cloves of garlic
- 2 bay leaves, Salt and pepper
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil, 2 Tbsp. butter
- 2 Tbsp. vinegar,
- 4 lb. small white onions
- 4 oz. dry red wine
- 2 Tbsp. tomato sauce (optional)
- Directions
- Cut meat into 1-1 1/2" cubes.
- Mince garlic.
- Melt butter in Dutch oven, then add oil.
- Brown meat.
- Add remaining ingredients.
- Add enough water to cover half of contents.
- Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours until meat is tender.
- Serve on rice.
