Faki (lentil)
- Ingredients
- 1 lb. bag of lentils
- 1/2 cup of Olive Oil
- 1 large onion
- 1 clove of garlic
- salt to taste
- pinch of pepper
- 8 oz. can of tomato sauce
- bay leaf
- 3 Tbsp. oregano (optional)
- Directions
- Bring 3 quarts of water to a boil in a kettle.
- Wash the lentils. Years ago, you would have to sort though the lentils for stones, but that really isn't necessary with modern packaging.
- Chop the onion and mince the clove of garlic.
- Add the onion, olive oil, garlic, bay leaf, salt, pepper and tomato sauce to the boiling water. An option to the tomato sauce is a Tablespoon of tomato paste.
- Bring water to boil again.
- Add the lentils.
- Cook for two hours.
