Macaronada (macaroni athenian)
- Ingredients
- 1 lb. macaroni or noodles (make sure the strands are long)
- 1/4 lb. of butter
- Grated mizitra cheese (parmasean or Romano will do if mizitra is not available, however, mizitra is optimal)
- Directions
- Cook macaroni in large pot of salted water (15-20 minutes).
- Drain well.
- Sprinkle a layer of grated cheese on a large platter.
- Cover with 1/2 the macaroni.
- Sprinkle generously with grated cheese.
- Cover with another layer of the macaroni.
- Sprinkle again with grated cheese.
- Melt butter in large skillet until it turns golden brown stirring continuously.
- Pour butter over macaroni and serve.
