Keftethes (meatballs)
- Ingredients
- 2 lbs. ground beef, 2 eggs
- 1 large onion, 1 clove of garlic
- Pinch of pepper, salt to taste
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- 1 Tbsp. of spearmint, 1/2 tsp. of cumin powder
- 3-4 slices of bread (stale bread prefferred)
- 1 tsp. of tomato paste
- Hand full of grated cheese (Parmasean or Romano)
- Directions
- Chop onion and mince garlic.
- Beat eggs and pour over ground beef.
- Knead eggs, onions and garlic into ground beef until thoroughly mixed.
- Soak the bread in water, then squeeze fine.
- Knead bread and remaining ingredients into ground beef.
- When all ingredients are incorporated, roll mixture into meatballs and roll each meatball in flour.
- Fry in a little olive oil until all sides are brown.
- Tastes great with Yia Yia's Saltsa.
